What follows is my own line  so far as I am able  claim to date

LYONELL HORD/ OURDE/ HURDE

Possibly born in Northumberland in about 1510 he is referred to in the Unthank Muster Roll 1538 - History of Northumberland as Lyell Hord with horse and harness and at Horncliffe as Lionellus Ourde - ten vnum ten et tres quart etc

Lancelot Hord of Horncliffe appears in the 1560 Survey of Norhamshire and Islandshire

Marriage - not yet found but possibly married in Northumberland and secondly to Janet in Durham

Will of Jennat Hurde 27th July 1586

To be buried at St Andrew Aukland in the place where my husband was

His wife - a silk hat

His daughter Elizabeth

His son Mark

My mother Ann Hurde - house and belongings for 6 years

Ralph Hurde son of the said Lionel, house etc after 6 years

Janet Bainbridge daughter of Lawrence Bainbridge

Anthony Rudd

Margaret Chambers

Margaret Russell Magdeline Russell

Brian Robinson John Rudden Lawrence Bainbridge and my sister

Witnesses: Matthew Whitfield Lionel Hurde

Allyn and Tracey Ord speculate that Lionel was Janets stepson -possibly born about 1548 but details not yet found. His origins in North Durham have not yet been established.

Lyonell Hurde buried 1st October 1579 at St Andrew Aukland

Jennat Hurd buried the same 29th July 1586 ( Allyn and Tracey Ord LDS Film 91080 )

LIONEL HURDE/ OURD born 1548

Probably born about 1548 Fishburn, Durham son of Lyonell

Named in the Will of Jennat Hurde 27th July 1586 - both she and her husband Lyonell buried St Andrew Aukland

Durham Records 13th November 1608

Anthony Craddock and William Williamson sold lands at Fishburn, ‘ parcell of the dissolved College of St Andrew Aukland’ to Lionel Ourd and John Ourd , Gent, both of Fishburn

12th October 1609

Lionel Ourd and John Ourd grant the same lands to Mark Ourd son and heir of Lionel

Fishburn

In 1484 Robert Claxton owned all Fishburn. He died and his assets fell to his four daughters. Fishburn was divided between three of these:-

Margaret married Sir William Elmdon (whose dau. married Sir William Bulmer)

Phillis married Richard Widdrington

Elizabeth married Richard Conyers

The Elmdon/Bulmer third part of Fishburn eventually came down to Sir Bartram Bulmer ( Sir Williams greatgrandson) who transferred it to John Orde of Fenwick in 1602

Bartram Bulmer mentioned as a friend in the 1623 Will of John Orde of Fenwick ( Allyn and Tracey Ord)

John Orde of Fenwick lived briefly in Fishburn before returning to North Durham. His son and heir Bartram (Bartram Owrde baptised at Bishop Middleham 1607 - IGI batch P001231 - but later married and living at Holy Island ) seems to have disposed of the third part of Fishburn in 1649.

The actual connection between Lionel and John suggested by the above has not been established.

Marriage

He married Lucy about 1577 ( Allyn and Tracey Ord)

Deaths

He was buried at Sedgfield 23rd May 1623

Lucy died at ‘ Whinhouse Fishburn’ and was buried at Sedgfield 14th January 1623/4 ( Allyn and Tracey Ord and LDS films 2034478 and 0456553)

Excerpt from an article reprinted in December 1803 in ‘ Local Records of Stockton’

‘Johanna Southcott paid a visit to Stockton and the neighbourhood, and remained there several weeks, but she did not make many converts to her opinions. At this period and for many years preceeding, another eccentric being named George Ord was accustomed to frequent the markets of Darlington, Stockton, Yarm and other towns, (athough frequently subjected to ill treatment from the rabble ) with a number of religious and other tracts for sale, many of which were his own composition. He had an interview with Johanna, but two of a trade do not usually agree, George considering himself to be the true Shiloh. He called himself the chosen minister of God, the Messiah, the Prince of Peace and many more exalted names. He travelled the three Kingdoms, and when his finances were low, was conveyed in a pass cart from one township to another.

George was born in 1755 in Great Stainton where his father occupied a farm under the Pennyman family, and on whose death his widow removed to Cowpen. After this George took a farm at Preston-on -Tees, where for want of attention everything went wrong. He left a great many descendants, and was buried at Seamer in Cleveland, maintaining to the last the belief that he was a true prophet’
